The SAC is tasked with researching, training and representing students in the field of social affairs of higher education. Social affairs involves questions of access, participation in and completion of one’s studies. It therefore involves all work regarding the social dimension of higher education, including financial affairs, students’ health, accomodation and work.
Among other tasks, members of  the SAC are responsible for:  

•    Developing and implementing ESU’s major project ‘Equity in Higher Education from a Students’ Perspective’.
•    Developing online and face-to-face training materials for student unions on the issue equity in higher education
•    Preparing research material and briefing notes regarding social affairs of higher education.
•    Representing ESU in the respective working groups, expert groups and conferences that discuss social affairs in the Bologna Process, the Lisbon Strategy of the European Union or higher education more generally.
•    Participating in general political discussions about the European Higher Education Area within ESU.
